Field Installation Engineer

Location: Ireland. 4x customer sites (travel required)

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Field Installation Engineer to join our technical services team. Working at customer sites, you will be responsible for carrying out pre-installation surveys, installing server hardware, connecting power and network infrastructure, and ensuring all equipment is installed to the highest standards.
This is a hands-on role that requires excellent technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with remote technical teams. The position may involve travel to multiple customer locations and occasional out-of-hours working to meet project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Site Surveys

  • Conduct pre-installation site surveys to assess readiness for deployment.
  • Verify rack space, mounting requirements, and environmental suitability.
  • Assess power availability, capacity, and connector types.
  • Review network connectivity, including copper and fibre infrastructure, port availability, and cable routes.
  • Identify any installation risks, constraints, or missing prerequisites.
  • Produce clear site survey reports with findings and recommendations.

Equipment Installation

  • Unpack, inspect, and position server equipment.
  • Install and securely mount equipment within customer racks.
  • Ensure installations are completed safely and in accordance with best practice.

Power & Network Connectivity

  • Connect servers to AC or DC power supplies as required.
  • Carry out basic power verification and safety checks.
  • Connect servers to customer network infrastructure using copper (RJ45) and fibre optic connections.
  • Perform basic connectivity verification, including link status checks.

Cabling

  • Route, dress, and label power and network cabling to a high standard.
  • Ensure all work complies with customer standards and industry best practices.

Testing & Documentation

  • Perform initial power-on and hardware operational checks.
  • Identify and report any faults or visible defects.
  • Complete installation documentation and provide survey and completion reports.

About You
We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience installing servers or IT infrastructure within data centres or customer environments.
  • Knowledge of rack installations, structured cabling, and network connectivity.
  • Experience working with copper and fibre networking technologies.
  • Understanding of AC/DC power connections for IT equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
  • A willingness to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
  • A full driving licence (preferred if travel is required).
